What is colored hearing?

What is colored hearing? Is it the ability to hear a color when musical notes are played? Not exactly but for some this does happen.

Colored hearing is actually another phrase for perfect pitch or absolute pitch. It's the ability to distinguish tones by how they sound, the richness, the fullness and everything else which makes each note unique. It is not the same as relative pitch but is a deeper form of ear training. Actually both skills are essential to every musician.
